I have an ipod touch usb problem?

I almost have the same problem, except I just have the charging problem. But, I can possibly help with the connecting problem. It might be that you are using an older usb cable. I have a iPod classic and I used that cable, but it couldn't connect, so I tried it with the cable it came with and it worked fine until I couldn't charge it using the wall outlet. Hope this helped.
