If securom from the Sims 2 hasn't affected my computer now, will it if i add a new expansion pack?

I recently found out about Securom being on The Sims games, but I haven't noticed anything malfunctioning. I currently have The Sims 2 Double Deluxe and Pets installed on my computer. So I was wondering I installed Seasons, could securom affect my computer even though it hasn't affected it before?
