Question about a new ball?

i just received my new gilbert Vapor 2 match ball (a href="http://www.worldrugbyshop.com/8398.html)" rel="nofollow"http://www.worldrugbyshop.com/8398.html)/a and the hole that you put the needle in to inflate it sticks out about a half of a centimeter from the side of the ball. it had no problems inflating, but it feels weird when you hold it because of the valve sticking out. is this a malfunction? should i maybe cut off the extra rubber to make it flush with the ball? or should i call the manufacturer (if so what would the phone number be)
